During an unplanned press conference Monday afternoon, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that the state had once again broken its daily record for new COVID-19 cases.

This comes as DeWine spoke at length about how hospitals across the state are concerned with a large increase in hospitalizations.

Muskingum County observed a slight decline over the weekend breaking from statewide trends, but still reported 200 new cases.

As reported by Y-City News, the county’s fourteenth Coronavirus death was recorded on Friday, November 20 of an 86-year-old resident.

The county continues to remain at a Level 3 Red Public Health Emergency as categorized by the Ohio Department of Health.

Both statewide and local leaders continue to ask area residents to limit Thanksgiving day festivities to members of their household in an effort to help limit the spread of the virus.

Dr. Jack Butterfield, Safety Officer for the Unified Command, reported Friday that a majority of cases they have investigated are linked to different community settings such as long-term care facilities, government offices, local retail and manufacturing businesses, schools and athletes, social clubs, churches, weddings, funerals and numerous other types of gatherings.
