The Zanesville Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire Thursday evening along Pine Street between Echo Ave. and Grove Ave. in the southern part of the city.

According to an assistant fire chief with the department, when crews arrived they were met with a small working fire inside the home.

Firefighters were then able to quickly contain and extinguish the fire, which had begun in the kitchen of the residence.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, as well as an exact monetary amount of damage that was done to the inside of the home.

The occupants were able to safely exit the structure before firefighters arrived and are currently being assisted by the American Red Cross.

No one was reported injured as a result of the fire.

On scene assisting the Zanesville Fire Department was the Zanesville Police Department, Newton Township Fire Department and Value Care Ambulance Service.
