After missing the top spot on the podium at his final state track meet, Ethan Tabor has plenty to smile about moving forward.

Tabor ended his high school track career with a third-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles in 2017 and two silver medals in long jump and the 300-meter hurdles this year. While he knows his opportunities to win a state title have now run out, he looks forward to a bright future ahead.

“(Ashland) just had the 400-meter D. II champion,” he said Saturday. “And their 4×4(00) just won too, so I think I’m going into a good school because that’s where I’m at, with (competing in) the mid-distance.”

Tabor is referencing Myles Pringle, who pulled off a convincing 400-meter win at this year’s NCAA Div. II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Ashland finished second in the nation in Div. II as a team this year.

He joined four other teammates from Sheridan who will also signed with colleges to run track in May. Those names include Lucas Brown (Eastern Michigan), Kyle Clellan (Malone), Anna Foster (Clarion) and Kaeley Clonch (Muskingum).
