IHOP Zanesville location yet to reopen
June 10, 2020
A local Zanesville restaurant has yet to reopen due to the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
Located along Maple Ave. near Tractor Supply, the store sits dormant as other IHOP locations around Ohio have opened.
During the company’s first-quarter earnings call, IHOP president Jay Johns said that “breakfast is an easy meal to replace,” citing the fact that many parents are working from home and older patrons are less likely to return anytime soon.
“If you’re only going to order out one time a day, the places that are doing dinner look like they’re winning more than some of the others,” Johns continued.
The Heath, Lancaster and Athens stores have all reopened. Westerville’s IHOP location appears to be the only other Ohio site, along with Zanesville, that has yet to reopen.
The front door is secured with a security cable and lock, which appears designed to prohibit anyone with a key from entering the building.
A sign on the front door reads: “We are currently closed until further notice. We appreciate your support and look forward to welcoming you back in soon.”
Request for comment to IHOP’s media relations team went unreturned.

Would be nice if the city would request they at least mow the grass. Looks terrible!
