A Zanesville teenager involved in a serious accident over the weekend has died from her injuries.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 16 year-old Gabriella Garven was in critical condition after suffering trauma from the accident on Saturday, Oct. 26.

She died on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Funeral arrangements with Hillis, Combs and Nestor Funeral Home are still pending.

Students at West Muskingum High School, where Garven was a member of the girls soccer team, have planned to wear orange in honor of the teen during Friday night’s football game.

According to OSP Sgt. Jeffrey Jirles, Garven was the passenger of a pickup truck driven by 18 year-old Jacob Garven when they went left-of-center and crashed into an oncoming car driven by 22 year-old Alex Slate.

Slate sustained moderate injuries and was treated locally at Genesis Hospital.
