A 19 year-old man who was living with his mother while awaiting his departure to college pleaded guilty to a felony after he used his mother’s gun, without permission, to hold two people at gunpoint.

Wednesday morning, Tristen Lacy pleaded guilty to one third-degree felony count of robbery with a gun specification.

According to Assistant Prosecuting John Litle, on March 7, patrolmen were dispatched after two people in a car called and stated that a man they were meeting pulled a gun on them.

The man allegedly told the duo to “give him the shit” when he pulled the gun on them, Litle said in court.

The two people in the car drove to the police department to further report the incident, and more units were dispatched to the residence on May Street where the man has allegedly pulled a gun.

When police arrived, they could tell that someone was inside the home but no one was answering the door. After contacting the homeowner, who was Lacy’s mother, Lacy answered the door and officers gained consent to search the home.

Investigators found the clothes that the gunman was wearing, as well as the handgun inside the home.

Lacy told police that he was attempting to buy weed and “things went south,” Litle stated in court.

The State made no recommendation as to sentencing, although Lacy’s gun specification carries a mandatory one-year prison sentence to be served in addition to any time he may receive for his felony offense.

Lacy’s bond was continued as previously set at $250,000 pending sentencing.
