The Boy Scouts of America Muskingum Valley Council and the Ohio Stave Company have a lot in store this Independence Day with the fourth annual Fourth of July Family FunFest.

Starting at 5 p.m., activities begin with a 1/4 mile color run. Challenges along the way include jumping rope, hula hooping, and potato sack hopping, all while getting soaked with water and covered in color. Those who wish to participate in the race should pre-register and arrive at 4:30 p.m. to collect T-shirts. There is a $10 registration fee that covers the cost for shirts.

The rest of the day’s activities are free of charge and include a variety of events fit for the whole family. Those include archery, games, music, crafts, s’mores and more, all leading up to the main event that will go out with a bang — fireworks.

Zanesville’s Pyrotechnia will light up the sky prior to the show at Zane’s Landing Park at 9:45 p.m.

All FunFest events take place at Camp Zane, located at 734 Moorehead Ave. in Zanesville.
