A motorcyclist was taken by helicopter to Grant Hospital after crashing his bike near Dillon Lake in Licking Township.

Emergency personnel responded to a call around 8 a.m. that a motorcycle had struck a utility pole and was off the roadway with severe injuries. When authorities arrived, they found a single occupant and began preparations for a helicopter transport.

According to an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper on scene, the cyclist was driving northbound along Pleasant Valley Road near Natural Resource Road 17 when he went off the right side of the roadway, struck a utility pole and lost control of his motorcycle in the ditch.

The motorcyclist was taken by Hanover squad to the Dillon Sportsman Center directly up the roadway to be transferred and transported by helicopter to Grant Hospital for precautionary injuries based on his condition and lack of a helmet during the crash.

The condition of the driver is currently unknown.
